Participate in distance learning or video conferencing in Zoom

At UCL Erhvervsakademi and Professionshøjskole we buy access to Zoom via DeiC, which safeguards your personal data.

Installing the Zoom client is a prerequisite for following this guide. If you have not yet installed the client, click here: How to install the Zoom client.

Participate in Zoom via the client from either PC or Mac

The first step to participating in a Zoom activity is to click a Zoom URL. You may have received it in an email or a link in itslearning.

  1. If you do not have a link/URL but instead have a meeting ID, you can participate by clicking Join in the Zoom client.
  2. THen put in the Meeting ID
  3. Choose a display name
  4. Click Join

5. Put in the password if prompted

6. Click 'Join meeting'

If the host is not ready yet and has activated the "waiting room" function, you will land in the waiting room in stead of the actual Zoom room.

7. In this case, you can use this time to test your sound. Click "Test Computer Audio"

8. Once the meeting/class is starting, click "Join with Computer Audio"

9. You may choose to check the box for "Automatically join audio..." to avoid this pop-up window in the future.

In the meeting room, you have the following options:

1. Mute or unmute your microphone

2. Enable or disable your video/webcam

3. Show a list of participants. This is also where you raise your hand.

4. Chat with the others in the room

5. Share your screen with the others (useful for sharing a presentation and other content)

In order to view all participants at the same time, click "Gallery View" in the top right corner.

Participating via a web browser

To participate in a Zoom aktivitet via a web browser, click on a Zoom URL (sent to you via e-mail or maybe a link in itslearning) or go to the UCL Zoom frontpage (https://ucldk.zoom.us/)

In the example below, you start at the Zoom frontpage.

1. Click 'Join'

2. Type in the Meeting ID that was sent to you

3. Click 'Join'

4. Click 'join from your browser'

5. Click 'I agree' to accept Zoom's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

If the host is not ready yet, you will be met with this screen until the host starts the meeting

6. Once ready to start, put in the password (if prompted)

7. Choose a display name

8. Click 'Join'

9. Wait for the host to let in into the room

10. Click "Join Audio by Computer"
